Loudeye moves a board member into the CEO’s office

Loudeye Corp., which provides digital media services to businesses, including many online retailers, has appointed Michael A. Brochu as president and CEO. Brochu will succeed Jeffrey M. Cavins, who is leaving the company. Brochu has been a member of Loudeye`s board of directors since December 2003.

Before joining Loudeye as president and CEO, Brochu was chairman, CEO and president of Primus Knowledge Solutions Inc., which provides e-business technology. Brochu joined Primus in 1997 and grew the company from a small business with a single product into a publicly traded company with a software suite, operations in Europe, and a worldwide customer base. Brochu presided over the sale of Primus to Art Technology Group last November.

Before Primus, Brochu was president and COO of Sierra On-Line Inc., a publisher of interactive entertainment, educational, and home productivity software. Brochu led Sierra’s 300%+ growth in revenues, culminating in the sale of Sierra On-Line to CUC International for $1.1 billion in 1996.

Brochu also serves on the boards of directors of ATG, Emphysis Medical Management, a medical billing and physicians` service firm, Allrecipes.com Inc., an online food site, and the Washington Software Alliance, the largest technology trade association in Washington state. He also sits on the advisory board of Voyager Capital, a venture capital firm.

Under Cavins’ direction Loudeye positioned itself as a key player in the market for legitimate digital distribution of music, video and games, developing and executing a strategic plan that included focusing on the growing opportunity in digital media distribution and related services, and restructuring Loudeye`s financial and operating performance.
