Department Store Online Gift Registry Enables Guests to Electronically Purchase Any Gift List Item

MINNEAPOLIS, May 1 -- Marshall Field`s now has an enhanced online presence at marshallfields.com. The redesigned Web site reinforces Marshall Field`s position as one of the premier department stores in the United States and features the Marshall Field`s Gift Registry, technological enhancements for easier navigation, and a wide selection of merchandise.

Among the most significant enhancements to the site is the addition of the Marshall Field`s Gift Registry. Marshall Field`s was the first retailer in the United States to introduce the bridal registry concept in the 1890s, which began in the form of written lists throughout the store and evolved to state-of-the-art computerized in-store "touch screens."

Now, marshallfields.com enables online guests to purchase any available item on a bridal registry. Online guests can review and print registry gift lists and request gift-wrapping and shipping services once a gift is purchased.

The Web site change is one of the first steps in the changeover of Dayton`s and Hudson`s under the Marshall Field`s name as announced earlier this year. The daytons.com and hudsons.com sites now send online guests directly into the new marshallfields.com site.
