Keynote Announces Transaction Perspective 6.0; Expanded Support for Monitoring Web Services Security
Leading Service for Web Transaction Monitoring Strengthened; Enhanced Alarming with Dynamically Generated Baselines and Component Level Alerting
• Keynote`s Monitoring Infrastructure Extensively Upgraded to Reflect Latest Hardware and Software Currently in Use
• Improved MyKeynote User Interface Adds New Features for Greater Efficiency and Customization
San Mateo, Calif., — August 2, 2005 — Today, Keynote Systems (Nasdaq:KEYN), the worldwide leader in e-business performance management services, today announced Transaction Perspective® 6.0, an enhanced version of its market-leading service for measuring the speed and reliability of Web-based transactions. Transaction Perspective helps leading companies measure, benchmark, trend and analyze the performance of their most critical applications and multi-step business transactions from the only perspective that matters — the end user.
As concern grows over the security of personal data contained on corporate computer systems, Transaction Perspective 6.0 now offers expanded support for Web Services (WS) —Security, a message framework designed to provide security and authentication for mission-critical transaction applications that include complex Web services such as bill payment or credit card authorization.
With the use of Web Services, companies gain greater efficiencies by leveraging published formats for accomplishing specified business tasks involving one or more parties. However, when using Web services, companies also give up some of the control over the performance of those transactions and applications. Those companies using Web Services need a real time way to assure that the transactions utilizing the benefits of Web Services are working without adversely impacting the end user. "The business value of monitoring WS-Security components cannot be underestimated as e-business adopts and seeks to validate new protocols," said Roopak Patel, senior product manager at Keynote. "Transaction Perspective provides a powerful tool for discovery, validation and authorization of single Web services and groups of Web services to accurately capture and track the performance of these highly secure Web services applications."
Recent research from Gartner indicates that, "Companies can realize some tantalizing benefits from the implementation of Web services-based architectures, such as the ability to re-purpose and reuse applications in an effort to create new products and services. But there`s a flip side. While Web services can speed the time to market, some of their attributes can impair manageability. Poorly managed Web services implementations can have many ramifications from impacts on employee productivity to lost customer business."
Other significant enhancements to Keynote Transaction Perspective include:
• Component level alerting targeted to specific issues allows customers to set alerts on specific network related times, such as DNS lookup, first byte and connection time with a server.
• Baseline threshold alerts for performance trending as part of the alerting strategy, provides more intelligent alerting based on a rolling average for each hour of the week instead of static values that results in fewer false alarms.
• Enhancements to the MyKeynote UI including customization for audience type, configurable schedules and content and search archives for historical reports up to two years.
In addition, Keynote has also significantly upgraded both the operating system and hardware for Transaction Perspective measurement computers, which now run on Pentium 4 2.4 GHz single processors with Windows XP Professional reflecting the dominant market hardware and operating systems.
