Netkey Teams with KIS to Offer Comprehensive Kiosk Solutions for Retailers

Company Press Release

BROOMFIELD, COLO. and BRANFORD, CONN. -- May 22, 2001 -- Netkey, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise software for Internet kiosks, and Kiosk Information Systems, Inc. (KIS), the established leader in design, manufacturing and service of kiosks today announced a joint marketing partnership to deliver best-of-class kiosk solutions for the retail, tourism, and financial services industries.

The partnership provides customers with a wide selection of state-of-the-art KIS kiosks and a variety of integrated components, powered by Netkey’s patented kiosk application design and network management software platform. The combination of Netkey software and KIS’s standard kiosks results in a significant reduction in development and deployment time for kiosk projects, increasing the return on investment and lowering the total cost of ownership for customers. Under the agreement, the companies will create joint marketing programs to reach target markets and Netkey will become a value-added-reseller of KIS kiosk products.

“Our partnership presents extraordinary potential for our customers,” said Alex Richardson, chief executive officer of Netkey. “It allows us to offer complete self-service solutions to our clients while working with KIS, a long standing and well-respected member of the kiosk industry. The alliance will enable faster deployments and lower cost of ownership.”

“Netkey’s dedication to customer success in integrated kiosk software is well known,” said Rick Malone, president of KIS. “KIS is excited about the opportunity to work with Netkey and introduce our clients to the benefits of an integrated self-service kiosk solution.”

The two companies have a track record of success. Borders Group, Inc. independently selected the two providers for its expanding Title Sleuth kiosk project, a self-help computer station where customers can search and map the location of books, music and videos/DVDs. The Title Sleuth kiosk, featuring Netkey software and KIS’s sleek enclosure design, was rolled out January 2001 in Borders stores nationwide. With over 2,000 Title Sleuth units in stores across the country, Borders reports that more than one million searches are performed each week, translating into increased revenue from special orders.
