iTunes music downloads pass 300 million
Music fans have downloaded more than 300 million songs from Apple Inc.’s iTunes online music store since it launched in April 2003. In the first year, fans downloaded 70 million tunes. In the 10 months since the first anniversary, they’ve downloaded another 230 million.
Apple also reported that the single "Across the Universe," proceeds of which benefits tsunami victims and available exclusively at iTunes, debuted as number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart making it the most successful exclusive digital track in its first week of release.
The iTunes Music Store features more than 1 million songs.
