Digital Island and Excite@Home Form Alliance for Broadband Content Delivery

Digital Island To Integrate its Footprint Content Delivery Network with Excite@Home`s High-Speed Network

SAN FRANCISCO, May 29, 2001 - Digital Island, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISLD), a leading provider of managed Internet infrastructure, announced today a key alliance with Excite@Home (NASDAQ: ATHM), the leader in broadband, to improve the delivery of high-quality streamed audio and video to Excite@Home`s 3.2 million broadband subscribers.

Digital Island, which provides services to six of the 10 largest media and entertainment companies and other key content providers globally, will be able to directly connect its Footprint®content delivery network to Excite@Home`s state-of-the-art, total-IP backbone.
