Overstock grows fastest in January among top shopping sites

Overstock.com showed the sharpest year-to-year growth in the number of unique visitors to shopping and travel sites in January, as its traffic rose 97% to 12.29 million from 6.19 million. Walmart.com had the second highest growth rate at 34%. Although eBay continues to lead in number of unique visitors, its total fell 12% to 50.25 million from 56.88 million, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.

Amazon ranked second in number of unique visitors in January, at 35.06 million, up less than 1% from 34.94 million a year ago, followed by Yahoo Shopping, 17.76 million, up 2%; Shopping.com, 17.1 million, up 6%; Expedia, 16.91 million, up 10%; Dell, 16.76 million, up 17%; Walmart.com, 15.25 million, up 34%; Travelocity, 13.38 million, up 5%; Target, 13.12 million, up 20%; and Overstock.

Also in January, General Mills Inc. led all consumer goods advertisers in the number of online ad impressions, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance report.
