Barnes & Noble.com Launches Online Bookstore With Microsoft Reader


Barnes & Noble.com today opened its eBookStore, which features Microsoft Reader technology for desktop PCs and laptop computers. The eBookStore is the first online retail bookstore to offer eBooks for the Microsoft Reader program, a new software application which features works from more than 30 publishers that is designed to deliver an on-screen computer reading experience similar to paper-based text. The eBookStore also offers free downloads of 100 of the world's great classics, including Charles Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities" and Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter." Publishers featured in the eBookStore launch include Time Warner, Random House and Simon & Schuster.
