Interwoven Enables Seamless Document to Web Publishing through Availability of New Content Transformation Services Offering

New Module for Interwoven Web Content Management Provides Easy Publishing of Business Documents to Multiple Channels Including the Web, Print, and Wireless

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- August 30, 2005 -- Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced the availability of Interwoven Content Transformation Services for TeamSite, a new add-on module to the company`s industry-leading Web Content Management (WCM) offering, enabling seamless multi-channel publishing of business documents to multiple output formats including the Web, print, and wireless. As a result of the new offering, business professionals can now easily and directly publish common business documents --created in Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint as PDF or HTML files -- to multiple channels across the enterprise without the need to leave the application they`re working in, change business processes, or seek IT assistance.

Enabling True Multi-Channel Publishing and Content Reuse

Unlike most publishing solutions offered to date, Interwoven Content Transformation Services for TeamSite enables content conversion from Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint into multiple output formats in a cross-platform environment including Windows, Linux, and Solaris. Previous solutions have been limited to content conversion based solely on the Windows platform, restricting the extent to which companies can effectively achieve cross-platform publishing. Further, because Interwoven`s offering enables content to be transformed first into XML, this content can be reused, stored, and dynamically assembled for on-demand publishing -- including to Internet, intranet, and extranet sites as well as to PDF -- or deployed for use in a database or content-centric applications such as a CRM system.

Interwoven customers are welcoming the new offering as a key enabler of more efficient and rapid multi-channel publishing. Said Brian Lane, vice president of Technology at the American Hospital Association (AHA): "As a key information source and provider for 85 percent of U.S. hospitals, we understand first hand why the seamless publishing of information is such a critical component to an organization`s success. With its new Content Transformation Services offering, Interwoven is proving once again that it understands the content management needs of today`s companies which are increasingly seeking improved ways in which to publish content across the organization."

Enhancing Business User Productivity

Interwoven Content Transformation Services for TeamSite is powered by industry-leading XML conversion technology from Interwoven partner CambridgeDocs, a Boston, MA-based leader in the emerging market for XML-based content integration. Through the new module, Interwoven is enabling business professionals to achieve higher productivity levels while simultaneously relying less on IT. Business professionals can use a point-and-click interface to seamlessly transform content created in familiar desktop applications such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint into XML for publishing to the desired Web, print, or wireless channel. For example, a marketing professional can now easily publish a marketing brochure created in Word to an Internet, extranet or intranet site directly from Word, without changing applications, having any prior knowledge of HTML coding, or relying on IT for assistance. The same process can also automatically generate a PDF file for print purposes.

"Maximizing business user productivity so that businesses can be more agile on the Web has been a historic strength for Interwoven," said Eben Miller, director, Web Content Management solutions, Interwoven. "The addition of Content Transformation Services to our industry-leading Web Content Management products and solutions further extends our commitment to helping customers improve efficiencies by providing them with a seamless process to dramatically reduce time-to-publishing across key channels including the Web, print, and wireless."
