Big retailers delivered a faster high broadband response in September

The web’s biggest retailers delivered faster web site response time in September, says Gomez Inc.

On average the top 50 retailers enabled web shoppers with a high broadband connection to access an e-commerce site in about 6.09 seconds. Zappos provided the fastest high broadband response time at 3.17 seconds. Zappos was followed by Dell (3.37 seconds), OfficeMax (3.54 seconds), Scholastic (3.56 seconds), Office Depot (3.93 seconds), Chadwicks (4.23 seconds), Cabela’s (4.24 seconds), Macys.com (4.40 seconds), Walmart.com (4.62 seconds), Avon (4.63 seconds), Victoria’s Secret (4.63 seconds) J.C. Penney (4.66 seconds) and Eddie Bauer (4.75 seconds).

Web shoppers typically use a high broadband Internet connection to shop online from work. In September, shoppers with a low broadband connection could access a top 50 site in an average of 15.50 seconds, while dial-up shoppers could access a top retail site in an average of 59.76 seconds.
