New order management system helps to boost sales at ArtBeads.com
Specializing in selling decorative beads sourced from throughout the world, ArtBeads.com boosted sales nearly 50% last holiday season after it quickly deployed a new order management system.
ArtBeads had realized just before the 2004 holiday season that it needed a more robust order management system to handle its rapid growth, says president Devin Kimura. It opted to use an expedited deployment service from OrderMotion to deploy its web-based order management system.
The expedited service, which OrderMotion calls Services with Aggressive Timelines, or SWAT, is designed to deploy a system in as few as five days, says Niels Christensen, founder and vice president of OrderMotion, a division of e-commerce platform provider CommercialWare Inc.
“We were between a rock and a hard place,” Kimura said. “We realized that we needed a far more efficient order-management system to handle our volumes and rapid growth, but with the busy holiday season looming we weren’t sure that was possible.”
But the rapid deployment of the OrderMotion system, he said, enabled ArtBeads to quickly handle the expected high volume of holiday sales. “We increased our business by nearly 50% the very same month we went live,” he said. “Without this rapid deployment, we would have had to postpone the transition to the new system and risk a very difficult holiday season.”
To support rapid deployment, OrderMotion requires clients to complete a questionnaire about existing and planned infrastructure and their method of gathering and processing orders. OrderMotion then sends a technical expert and business analyst to work with the client on a rapid deployment.
