Walmart.com barks up the pets supply tree
Pets.com may have been an early casualty of the dot-com investment frenzy, but that doesn’t mean pet supplies don’t sell online. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. today launched a pet supplies department at Walmart.com that will compete with such well established online brands as Petco.com, Petsmart.com and DrsFosterSmith.com.
Walmart.com will focus on supplies for dogs, cats, fish and small animals. The company says the online assortment will exceed the assortment in Wal-Mart stores.
Wal-Mart says pet merchandise has consistently been a top searched-on item at Walmart.com
