Database marketing agency Merkle has named the former head of DoubleClick Inc.’s e-mail marketing business to lead its own e-mail marketing division. Eric Kirby, formerly senior vice president and general manager of DoubleClick’s e-mail division, is the new senior vice president and general manager at Merkle/Quris.
In his new role, Kirby is responsible for the overall management of the division and for developing its future direction and growth. “Eric brings to this role extensive management and leadership experience in e-mail, interactive and database marketing that will serve to benefit our clients, while also advancing the overall operations within our Merkle/Quris business unit,” says David Williams, Merkle president and CEO.
While at DoubleClick, Kirby oversaw the strategic direction of the business unit, expanded its professional service offerings, and developed industry partnerships. Kirby has been involved in e-mail marketing services since that industry’s inception, successfully founding two e-mail firms earlier in this career. Those companies, Veripost and Assurance Systems, were later acquired by Return Path.
Previously, he served as vice president of interactive services at Brierley & Partners, a customer relationship firm. He also was earlier associated with Kestnbaum & Co, a database management consulting firm.
