EBay leads in visits to online shopping sites in August


EBay Inc. recorded the most traffic among the top 10 online shopping sites in August, with 89.4 million visits, up 5% from 85.2 million a year earlier, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.

Amazon.com Inc. ranked second, with 59.5 million visits, up 8% from 55.2 million in August 2005; followed by Dell Inc. , 21.7 million, up 29% from 16.8 million; Target Corp., 21.4 million, up 35% from 15.9 million; Wal-Mart Stores Inc., 19.2 million, up 19% from 16.2 million; Shopzilla.com Network, 18 million, up 18% from 15.3 million; Shopping.com Network, 16.8 million, up 8% from 15.6 million; Expedia.com, 15.5 million, down 12% from 17.7 million; NexTag Network, 13.5 million, up 35% from 10 million; and Yahoo Shopping, 12.6 million, up 6% from 11.9 million.

Also in August, The Procter & Gamble Co. had the most online ad impressions in the consumer goods industry, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance Report. The leading brands and their ad impressions (in millions) were:
