Foot Locker names new e-commerce chief


Foot Locker has named a new executive to be in charge of its international operations and FootLocker.com.

The company, No. 44 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, has promoted Ron Halls to president and CEO of Foot Locker Inc. International. In his new position Halls will oversee all Foot Locker operations in Europe, Canada and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the Footlocker.com direct marketing business.

Halls was the COO of Champs Sports prior to being named president and CEO of Champs in 2003. He joined Champs Sports in 2000 after serving as CEO for three years of Canterbury International Ltd., a rugby sports company. Prior to Canterbury he was the managing director of LWR (Far East) Ltd., an apparel, marketing and sourcing company.

As the executive in charge of e-commerce, Halls will oversee the operation of FootLocker.com, WorldFootLocker.com, LadyFootLocker.com, KidsFootLocker.com, Eastbay.com, Footaction.com and ChampsSports.com.

E-commerce is a growing channel at Foot Locker. For Q2 2006 Foot Locker posted web sales of $54 million, compared with web sales of $47 million in Q2 2005. Total sales remained flat in Q2 at $1.228 billion compared with the second quarter of 2005.
