LiveDeal, an online classified advertising marketplace for local buying and selling of goods, reports that the value of merchandise listed on LiveDeal.com in March 2005 reached $1 billion, the first time it has reached that level. LiveDeal reports it now has more than 200,000 items listed, doubling in two months. It also reports that gross merchandise and transaction values have also more than doubled in that period.
LiveDeal reports that More than 500,000 users visited LiveDeal in March with consumers conducting transactions on more than $155 million in items for sale, up from $80 million in January 2005.
Listings in autos, furniture, real estate and pets are growing at a rate of 35 to 50% month over month, LiveDeal says. Top searches for March on LiveDeal were “cars,” “puppies,” “boats,” “motorcycles,” “iPods” and “furniture.”
