Office Depot Selects UCCnet for Registration and Synchronization Services

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ May 24, 2004 – UCCnet™ announced today that Office Depot, one of the world’s largest resellers of office products, will begin implementing the organization’s product registration and data synchronization services. These services will enable Office Depot to achieve efficiencies across supply chain functions through more timely and accurate exchange of product data. Office Depot is the second major U.S. office supply retailer to subscribe to UCCnet. The company joins more than 3,000 other supply and demand side trading partners as members of the UCCnet community.

Office Depot will register product data in the UCCnet Registry. Office Depot’s suppliers will also register data in the UCCnet Registry. Once registered, UCCnet will check the data for compliance to industry standards. Office Depot will then use UCCnet’s synchronization services to synchronize the registry-compliant data with its suppliers, ensuring that all suppliers are using identical, up-to-date, standards-compliant data.

"We plan to adopt the UCCnet Registry service to continue to improve our supply chain and provide even better service to our customers," said Rick Coro, Vice President of Merchandising and Replenishment Systems for Office Depot. "We are very excited about the high level of support in the industry and we will be urging our suppliers to join us and subscribe to UCCnet."

"UCCnet welcomes Office Depot as it`s newest addition to their retailer community. Office Depot`s decision to standardize on the UCCnet technology platform enables them to significantly reduce operating expenses while ensuring cross-industry collaboration and compliance with emerging standards," said Dan Wilkinson, Vice President of Business Development for UCCnet.

UCCnet services will enable suppliers and their retail partners to reduce costly administrative errors in invoice pricing, purchase orders, and product delivery, and increase scanning accuracy. In addition, companies will be able to increase the speed of getting new products to market and facilitate continuous exchange of changes to existing product information. Synchronized data in a standard format also provides a solid foundation for realizing the true cost savings value of more advanced e-commerce tools such as scan-based trading and Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR®*).
