MasterCard launches awards program for web site functionality
MasterCard International launched today its Usability Excellence Awards for web sites. “The purpose is to help bring attention to usability as a critical aspect of web design,” says Jennifer Ruffino, head of MasterCard’s Usability Services Team.
Starting today, web site operators can nominate their sites for evaluation by Ruffino’s team. MasterCard will judge sites in two categories: e-commerce sites, including online retailers and payment processing organizations; and financial-services sites offering online banking and bill payment.
MasterCard will choose winners based on seven criteria of usability: navigation, information architecture, accessibility, error prevention/recovery, written content, customer support and interface design. Nominations are due by May 31; winners will be announced by Aug. 15.
