Vermont Teddy Bear’s web sales grow 27% over prior year

Vermont Teddy Bear continues to post solid e-commerce numbers. In 2004, Vermont Teddy Bear, which also sells online with affiliate sites through PajamaGram, TastyGram and Calyx & Corolla, posted web sales of about $28 million, up 27% from Internet sales of $22 million in 2003.

Sales are up because of a concerted and ongoing electronic marketing push. “Over 50% of our orders are placed online and that percentage continues to grow for each of our brands,” says Tom Funk, webmaster. “That`s in part because of growth in our online marketing, including search-engine advertising, affiliate marketing program and e-mails to our most loyal customers.”

Vermont Teddy Bear says most of its sales leads are still generated by traditional marketing programs, but that more customers are becoming accustomed to e-commerce. “The majority of our orders are still generated by traditional direct marketing such as radio, television, mail-order catalogs and print advertising, but those customers also seem to be increasingly comfortable placing their orders online," Funk says.
