Vermont Teddy Bear’s web sales grow 27% over prior year

Vermont Teddy Bear continues to post solid e-commerce numbers. In 2004, Vermont Teddy Bear, which also sells online with affiliate sites through PajamaGram, TastyGram and Calyx & Corolla, posted web sales of about $28 million, up 27% from Internet sales of $22 million in 2003.

Sales are up because of a concerted and ongoing electronic marketing push. “Over 50% of our orders are placed online and that percentage continues to grow for each of our brands,” says Tom Funk, webmaster. “That's in part because of growth in our online marketing, including search-engine advertising, affiliate marketing program and e-mails to our most loyal customers.”

Vermont Teddy Bear says most of its sales leads are still generated by traditional marketing programs, but that more customers are becoming accustomed to e-commerce. “The majority of our orders are still generated by traditional direct marketing such as radio, television, mail-order catalogs and print advertising, but those customers also seem to be increasingly comfortable placing their orders online," Funk says.
