Biblio opens the book on e-commerce outsourcing

Online used and rare books retailer Biblio Inc. is starting an e-commerce outsourcing business.

So far the company, No. 380 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, has signed up three clients, including Biblion Ltd., a British independent books retailer.

Under the arrangement, Biblio hosts the retailer’s web store on its infrastructure and provides e-commerce platform management and support.

"One of the primary reasons we chose to work with Biblio.com is that they ensured us they could place Biblion in the marketplace quickly, and they have a proven track record for stability and innovation in online bookselling,” says Biblion founder Leo Harrison. “They have stayed on schedule and exceeded our expectations in preparing the sites for re-release."

Biblio will provide Biblion with database management support, site search, billing support, and additional technical and customer services programs. “We are providing essentially all of the functions of the web site,” says Biblio director of sales and marketing Kevin Donaldson. Biblio’s other outsourcing clients are Biblioquest International in Australia and the Independent Online Booksellers Association. “We are working with other companies in several countries to provide these kinds of technical services in the online bookselling space,” Donaldson says.
