Q1 sales at Thralow’s e-retailing properties grow 66% over year ago

First quarter revenue at Thralow Inc., operator of Binoculars.com and Telescopes.com, grew 65.8% to $3.14 million from $1.89 million a year ago, the company reported today. It also reported that trailing 12-month total sales reached $14.6 million, double the $7.2 million for the same period a year ago.

Binoculars.com experienced Q1 sales of $1.7 million compared with $1.2 million in Q1 a year ago. For the preceding 12 months, this site had sales of $8.6 million vs. $5 million a year earlier.

Telescopes.com sales reached $1 million, up from $379,855 in Q1 a year ago. Trailing 12-month sales were $4.4 million vs. $1.1 million a year ago.

Peepers.com, which markets eyewear on the Internet, as well as in the company’s retail operation Duluth, MN, had sales of $143,529 in the first quarter of 2005, compared with $93,022 for the comparable period in 2004.

CEO Daniel Thralow said he expects the company’s growth to taper off slightly toward the end of 2005, as the company’s facilities in downtown Duluth are too small to handle year-over-year doubling experienced since 2002. Thralow said that while the company’s sales are on pace to hit $23 million for 2005, the reality is that the figure probably would be closer to $20 million. The company is attempting to secure new facilities before the fourth quarter.

The company says its profit more than doubled for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2005, compared to those for the same period a year ago, totaling slightly more than $1 million.
