DVD Empire begins domestic Saturday delivery

Some people can’t wait to get their DVDs. In response to customer demand, DVD Empire, an online seller of DVDs, now offers premium-priced domestic Saturday delivery for all in-stock items going to United Parcel Service-approved Saturday delivery ZIP codes.

The Saturday delivery went into effect April 22. The option will appear only on Fridays, and customers will receive guaranteed overnight Saturday delivery of new releases or any other product DVD Empire offers.

“We had so many customers calling us on Fridays to upgrade their shipping to UPS Saturday,” says Alicia Berry, director of operations. “Since our web site gives customers complete control over their orders until it leaves the property, we thought we would offer the customer the capability of asking for Saturday delivery at checkout or modification of order pages, even for orders created in the past.”

Customers will be charged extra for Saturday delivery, Berry says. “It is extremely expensive for us, and we’ve always quoted the lowest shipping prices possible to our customers,” Berry says. “Most customers take advantage of our free shipping for three DVDs or more, but those customers who are serious about receiving DVDs quickly can pay for the expedited delivery methods.”
