Online shoppers are waiting longer to begin holiday buying, study says

33% of online shoppers plan to start their online holiday shopping by the end of October, down from 38% last year, Shopzilla reports in a BizRate survey.

The study also notes, however, that more online shoppers (39%) this year plan to begin their online holiday shopping in early to mid-November, up from 36% last year, and 15% will begin Thanksgiving weekend, compared to 14% last year. Shopzilla conducted this year’s survey for the 7-day, Monday-through-Sunday period Oct. 16-22 and compared it to Oct. 17-23 of last year.

14% of online shoppers this year are waiting to begin online holiday shopping in December, up from 12% last year, the study says.
