Tool King launches new site design, projects $27 million in sales

A new site design based on Java technology offers improved site search and guided navigation, product videos and 90 proprietary buying guides, as Tool King expects sales this year to rise about 80% to $27 million from $15 million last year, managing partner Don Cohen tells InternetRetailer.com.

The new site design, developed with Inkriti LLC as well as in-house staff, also loads faster and offers an “Alert Me” feature that e-mails shoppers about special product promotions, Cohen says. “We’re trying to empower the customer with more knowledge-based content while building a community of shoppers and giving them more reason to come to our site,” Cohen says.

Providing additional content is also helping to cut down on telephone inquiries to Tool King’s customer service center, he adds. Tool King is No. 302 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites.

The new site was built to handle up to $180 million in annual sales, a level Cohen says he expects to reach within a few years as Tool King expands in foreign as well as domestic markets. “We can make adjustments to then expand beyond $180 million,” he says.
