Revenues up 24% at Akamai Technologies
Content delivery company Akamai Technologies Inc. reported first quarter revenue grew 4.3% to $60.1 million from $57.6 million in 2004’s fourth quarter and up 24% from $48.4 million in the year-earlier period.
Net income totaled $14.1 million, up 5% from $13.4 million in 2004’s fourth quarter, and up four-fold from $2.9 million in the first quarter of 2004.
Operating income totaled $ 16.3 million, an 11.6% increase from $14.6 million in the fourth quarter, and up 96.4% from $8.3 million a year earlier.
At the end of the quarter, Akamai had 1,360 customers under recurring contracts. That’s up 3.8% from 1,310 customers in 2004’s fourth quarter and up 16% from 1,172 a year ago. The number of deployed servers totaled 16,071 at quarter end, up 6.6% from 15,075 at year-end 2004, and a 11.3% increase from 14,434 in last year’s first quarter.
