Sharper Image’s web sales are up 42% in June

Web sales at Sharper Image Corp. were up 42% in June over June 2001, excluding web auctions, the company reported today. Total company sales were up 19% to $33.1 million from $27.8 million a year earlier. Including auctions, web sales were up 20% to $3.9 million from $3.3 million a year earlier. Sharper Image does not report web sales excluding auctions. Catalog sales grew 18% to $8.4 million from $7.1 million a year earlier.

For the first five months of the fiscal year, web sales were up 36% excluding auctions and 20% including auctions to $20.2 million from $16.8 million a year ago. Total sales were up 27% to $158.6 million from $124.5 million. Store sales were up 23% while comparable store sales were up 9%. Catalog sales grew 41% to $47.9 million from $33.9 million a year earlier.

For the first five months, Internet sales, including auctions, accounted for 12.7% of all sales vs. 13.5% a year earlier.
