New jeans-finder on Shopping.com lets women skip the dressing room
Shopping.com has partnered with zafu.com, a unit of fit-finder software developer Archetype Solutions, to launch a women’s jeans finder on the shopping engine. The new feature, accessible under a link from women’s clothing category pages on Shopping.com, carries shoppers who click on it to a co-branded web site that guides them through the process to yield a selection of jeans and then links to the merchants where they may be purchased.
“The women’s jeans market has exploded in recent years, offering shoppers an abundance of styles and brands and making it much harder for women to find that perfect pair,” says Shannon Clouston, chief shopper for Shopping.com. The new jeans finder, she adds, provides a customized shopping experience that allows shoppers to find the right style from thousands available online, “saving countless hours of time spent in fitting rooms.”
The zafu.com jeans finder asks women 11 questions about their preferences regarding style, fit, and sizing so as to narrow down each buyer’s choices. Algorithms built into the system then match jeans from a database to the shopper’s profile. No measuring is required. The product is a build on online fit-finding solutions pioneered by Archetype in custom clothing applications deployed on LandsEnd.com, among other online venues.
The feature exposes shoppers using it on Shopping.com to brands they might not have previously known about or considered, but which might be a fit for them. “By suggesting new brands, styles and fits for shoppers, Shopping.com can offer them more relevant choices via a recommendation expressly tailored for them,” the company notes.
