Endeca, a provider of search technology for web sites, continues to land high-profile customers for its technology, which combines search results with browsing capability. It announced today new contracts with Crate & Barrel for use of the technology at CrateandBarrel.com and with the Spiegel Group for use at Spiegel.com, EddieBauer.com and NewportNews.com.
Both will use Endeca’s InFront product. In the case of Spiegel, search results will include items from related corporate sites. For example, if a customer is searching for a woman's bathing suit on the Eddie Bauer Outlet site and there are no matches, the product will direct customers to matches on the Eddie Bauer site.
"The online channel continues to be an area of significant growth for our company and we want to expand on that success through investment in the best technologies," said John Seebeck, Director of Internet for Crate and Barrel. "Endeca's search solution makes good sense because it provides our customers with the ability to search in multiple ways yielding results that will take them where they want to go while exposing them to items they may not know exist."
“InFront's merchandising capability allows us to offer new, relevant purchase options while letting consumers know about bargains and sometimes-missed related items which might be of interest” said David Kardesh, senior vice president and chief information officer of The Spiegel Group. “All of these capabilities help us achieve our goals to enhance the overall shopping experience of our customers while increasing conversion rates."
"Many online retailers need to look for ways to market and merchandise goods on multiple storefronts. The Spiegel Group was looking for a way to do this while also improving overall customer experience," said Steve Papa, CEO of Endeca. "Endeca InFront will enable The Spiegel Group to manage and present products in a way that helps customers find exactly what they are looking for so they can ultimately buy more. "
