Albertson’s names Bob Dunst to head technology and supply chain

Albertson’s Inc. today announced that Bob Dunst, executive vice president and chief technology officer, has assumed responsibility for the company’s supply chain organization. His added responsibilities include procurement, inventory management, distribution, warehousing, and logistics.

Dunst, 44, joined Albertson’s in 2001 after working at IBM, Food4Less, American Stores and Safeway. With his new responsibilities, Dunst’s title is executive vice president of technology and supply chain.

Albertson’s combined the responsibilities of the two positions because technology and the supply chain are becoming increasingly interdependent through advances such as e-procurement, RFID, satellite routing systems, wi-fi shopping devices and web grocery expansion, among others, the company says.

Clarence Gabriel, formerly executive vice president of supply chain and asset management, is leaving the company to pursue other interests, Albertson’s said.
