Macy’s, Dell and Gap join the shopping mall at Yub.com

Yub.com, a social networking and retail site owned by Buy.com Inc., has doubled the number of retailers in its shopping mall, Yub said today. Merchants including Macy’s, Dell, Gap and Sephora have joined a mall that now has more that 20 retailers.

Yub now offers nearly 2.8 million products and plans to add more, it said. "Our goal was to provide a unique, rewarding and informative shopping experience, while simulating a virtual mall experience for our members,” said Yub president and co-founder Jared Morgenstern.

Yub, which displays the names of its participating retailers in the kind of map illustration common in brick-and-mortar malls, provides customers with a 1% cash rebate on every purchase. Separate offers are also available for individual participating retailers, such as a temporary 3% discount on purchases at Target.

Members of its YubClub can earn up to 25% rebates on purchases, plus establish a personal web page and share digital pictures and messages with other members. Members also earn purchasing points that can be redeemed for cash and pass on discounts to other shoppers who purchase a member’s recommended product. YubClub fees range from $14.95 for six months to $39.95 for 24 months. A YubBasic membership offers similar but fewer benefits for a smaller fee.

Other retailers participating in the Yub.com mall are Apple Computer Inc.’s iTunes, Sony, Foot Locker, eBags.com, Fossil, Shoes.com, eLuxury.com, Art.com, Sierra Trading Post, Bare Necessities and Wine.com.
