PetMed’s fiscal year web sales rise 22% to $57.5 million
Internet sales at PetMed Express Inc., an online and telephone retailer of pet supplies, rose 22% to $57.5 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, up from $47 million in the prior year, as web sales rose to 53% of total sales from 50%, the company said.
"We are pleased to report that our re-order sales increased 34%, from $51.4 million to $68.7 million for the years ended March 31, 2004 and 2005, respectively,” said CEO Mendo Akdag. “We will continue to focus on re-order sales in fiscal 2006 by initiating more relevant personalized communication with our customers, approximately 1.4 million of whom have placed an order with us over the past two years.”
PetMed, which operates online at PetMed.com, focuses on prescription and non-prescription veterinary supplies. About 70% of its sales are for non-prescription goods, a spokesman says.
