Online spending rises 23% for week ended April 24
Online retail spending rose 23% for the week ended April 24, to $1.48 billion from $1.2 billion from the comparable week a year ago, comScore Networks Inc. reports.
Total retail sales rose year-over-year 4.7% for the week ended April 30 and 7.5% for the week ended April 16, according to ShopperTrak RCT Corp.’s Retail Sales Estimate. ShopperTrak noted that April sales did well compared to the same month in 2004 despite the fact that the Easter holiday was in March this year, instead of in April last year.
Online travel sales rose 48% to $1.16 billion for the week ended April 24, up from $785 million in the comparable week a year ago, comScore said.
