Shutterfly’s Q3 revenue rises 36% year-over-year
Shutterfly Inc., which lets its users upload, edit and share digital photos at Shutterfly.com, says revenue rose 36% to $21.2 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, up from $15.58 million a year ago.
Shutterfly also reports a net loss for the quarter of $2.7 million, compared to a year-ago net loss of $1.3 million, and an operating loss of $5.13 million.
The company ended the quarter with $18.2 million in cash and cash equivalents. On Oct. 4, it received through an initial public offering of stock proceeds of $80.9 before expenses. It plans to use a portion of the net proceeds to invest in technology, process development, customer retention and marketing programs.
Also for Q3, average order size declined 4.9% year-over-year to $17, but total number of orders rose 42% to 1.24 million and the number of transacting customers rose 40% to 623,000, it says.
