FootSmart.com increases sales of cross-sell items by 97% with analytics

FootSmart.com has experienced a 97% increase in sales for all cross-sell items since implementing Intelligent Offer, a core component of a new tool set from web analytics provider Coremetrics Inc. In addition, the average order value when a cross-sell product is purchased increased 19% and cross-sell conversion rates increased 31%.

Intelligent Offer is a hosted solution that automatically generates cross-sell recommendations based on a history of online consumer behavior. It leverages Coremetrics’ LIVE Profiles, using sophisticated algorithms to identify the most effective cross-sell offers based on the browsing, shopping and purchasing habits of FootSmart’s customers.

“Our merchandising team was spending over 20 hours a week identifying cross-sell products,” says Sarah Bowler, FootSmart’s senior manager of e-retail. “Now, not only are they free to focus on other priorities, but the increased relevance of the offers being generated by Intelligent Offer has driven up conversions, sales and average order value.”

Since implementing Intelligent Offer, FootSmart also has experienced a 147% increase in cross-sells as a percentage of total online sales, the retailer says.
