Retailer Bidz names two department executives
Online jewelry retailer and auctioneer Bidz Inc. has promoted Claudia Liu to the newly created position of chief operating officer. Liu will oversee all of the company’s operations, auction, marketing, information and purchasing and will report to Bidz.com president and CEO David Zinberg.
Liu joined Bidz.com in 2001 and was promoted to vice president of operations in 2002. Prior to joining Bidz, she was director and general manager of Cybertowers Pte Ltd., a publicly listed company in Malaysia. Liu has more than 15 years of experience in accounting, operations and general management.
Bidz also recently named Felipe Carino Jr. as chief technology officer. Prior to joining Bidz.com, Carino served as chief technology officer of StoragesSQL and 4Medica. He was also previously employed as director of strategic new business for Filetek and as chief architect for Teradata, the data warehouse unit of NCR Corp. Carino has co-authored two IEEE book chapters, published over 20 conference and journal papers and is an editor for the Information Systems Journal.
At Bidz, No. 98 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, he replaces Larry Russell, who is now the chief controls officer.
