AEON Group Selects Manugistics to Build Comprehensive Supply Chain Management System

ROCKVILLE, Md.--July 6, 2004--Manugistics Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:MANU), a leading global provider of demand and supply chain management solutions, today announced that AEON Group, one of Japan`s largest retailers with more than 3,000 stores globally, has selected and is now implementing Manugistics` solutions to help build its supply chain management system.

AEON`s supply chain management initiative is part of the Company`s drive to improve its information technology infrastructure and introduce global standards to build a world-class business model. In the first phase of the initiative, AEON will optimize demand, fulfillment and purchase plans for the 400 items that are part of their private brand, "Topvalu," plus certain select items of the Company`s two national brands. The "Topvalu" brand includes food items, apparel and household products - totaling 2,400 items - that are distributed through AEON`s six regional distribution centers (RDCs) to its subsidiary stores in Japan, such as general merchandisers JUSCO and SATY, and Maxvalu supermarkets.

The first phase of the project is designed to reduce stockouts and inventory by improving weekly demand forecasting at the RDC level, and by establishing Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR) with suppliers. The system is scheduled to go live in September 2004 and will expand coverage to a broader line of items and suppliers beginning in spring 2005.

AEON is implementing Demand, Fulfillment, Collaboration and Monitoring solutions in the Web-based Manugistics 7 series. As a result, the innovative supply chain management system will employ one consistent series of solutions to manage AEON`s overall demand and supply planning, and initiate full-fledged CPFR efforts by sharing mid-term and long-term sales plans with suppliers. When selecting solutions, AEON used its actual sales data to conduct value assessments with Manugistics in four areas, including demand forecasting, fulfillment planning, CPFR, and demand consolidation.

Manugistics` solutions are widely used by leading global companies in the retail industry, as well as the food, beverage and consumer goods industries. Manugistics has been involved in CPFR efforts from the beginning stages, assisting with the first pilot project led by the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards (VICS) Association.
