PriceGrabber offers another option for would-be sellers
PriceGrabber.com, a shopping comparison site, has introduced a service that allows individuals to establish storefronts at PriceGrabber.com to list products for sale. It is the latest entrant in a market that features such big names as Yahoo, Amazon and eBay in allowing individuals to easily set up low-cost stores. Jupiter Research inc. reports that $11 billion worth of goods will be sold by consumers to consumers over the Internet this year and that is expected to grow to $17 billion by 2006.
A prospective seller clicks on the Sell Yours Here button on every product page at PriceGrabber. After submitting a description, setting a price and selecting shipping and payment options, the PriceGrabber Storefronts listing will be available for all PriceGrabber visitors to review. Buyers may then click through PriceGrabber to purchase the item directly from the seller. As part of the item description and condition page, buyers may also submit questions about the product that the seller answers online; the resulting dialog will remain on the page as reference for future buyers.
PriceGrabber will charge no listing fees and will collect 99 cents plus 7.5% of the item price after the product is sold. Buyers do not pay additional fees.
As part of the Storefront offering, PriceGrabber has implemented a fraud protection policy backed by Lloyd`s London to shield both sides of a transaction. Upon completion of a transaction, the site offers a feedback system where parties may post comments about the buyer or seller for future PriceGrabber visitors to read.
