Excluding auctions, Sharper Image’s web sales grow 56% in July
Monthly web sales at Sharper Image Corp.’s SharperImage.com are continuing a strong string of double-digit growth. Excluding web auctions, SharperImage.com sales rose 56% in July compared to a year ago. Total web sales, including auctions, rose 25% in July to $3.5 million from $2.8 million in July last year, the company reports. It does not break out separate figures for auctions vs. merchandise. Web sales accounted for 11% of the company’s total sales in July.
Companywide sales for July rose 35%, to $31.2 million from $23.2 million a year ago. Total store sales in July increased 23% to $17.9 million from $14.6 million. Comparable store sales increased 9%. Catalog sales increased 67% to $9.8 million from $5.9 million, including wholesale revenue. Retail sales through the catalog rose a more modest 28%.
