Initially selected by the real estate group, HomeScape, ProactiveNet quickly proved its viability as an enterprise solution. The IT groups for each division used several monitoring point products and freeware solutions to track the performance and availability of the various infrastructure devices. But the groups were only alerted to the most basic performance events, and had no way of correlating data from all the point products to identify the root cause of application performance problems.
"During the evaluations cycle, we had narrowed the field to ProactiveNet and one other product," said Bill Tucker, director of corporate technology operations at Classified Ventures. "At one point there was a performance incident with one of our key applications, so the two products had the opportunity to go head-to-head on incident response. ProactiveNet won hands down. The first product overloaded us with performance data that would`ve taken our team hours to sort through to find the `real` problem. ProactiveNet delivered the answer within minutes."
According to Tucker, each application group has a different architecture, and there are teams of IT people dedicated to each application. ProactiveNet is leveraged to monitor the application infrastructures of each division, and is also used by the company`s enterprise technologies group and core network group to keep tabs on day-to-day IT operations. The product`s ability to integrate with multiple tools and provide visibility between IT and the business units proved to be especially useful.
