AppliancePartsPro is building a bigger web business and a loyal audience of do-it-yourself shoppers by helping its customers find and purchase hard-to-find parts for everyday products like refrigerators and ovens.
“I started this because I wanted by own business and I knew the Internet could help people locate scarce parts faster than driving around town to different parts stores or spending all morning on the phone,” says founder Roman Kagan.
AppliancePartsPros.com enables customers to find current as well as old parts usually within four clicks. It maintains an online inventory of more than 1 million parts for about 100 makes and models of appliances. “We have parts for appliances that date pretty far back,” Kagan says. “We maintain some inventory for stoves built in the 1950s.”
By offering a digital library of 300,000 schematics, the e-retailer also makes it easy for customers to learn where a part fits into a particular appliance.
