Students take to the web for back-to-school buying, BizRate says
More than three-fourths--78%--of students will use the web to conduct some of their back-to-school buying, researchers and comparison shopping site BizRate.com Inc. reports. 59% of their parents will go online to shop for back to school, BizRate says.
Textbooks are the top online purchase by college students, with 74% saying they will buy textbooks online this year. Other top categories among students are:
o Clothing (33%)
o School Supplies (32%)
o Electronics (30%)
Top categories with parents are:
o Clothing (65%)
o School Supplies (43%)
o Electronics (22%)
o Textbooks (22%)
The survey was based on 1,179 confirmed online buyers who agreed to be surveyed at the point of sale between Aug. 6 and 13.
