Gearing up for college students’ return to campus

A couple of college-student-oriented web sites are gearing up for the start of the school year.

E-campus.com reported today that it has re-vamped its shipping system to accommodate split shipments. Before now, special orders of items not in stock at e-campus.com would hold up an entire order until the special order item was available. E-campus now promises that orders received by noon will be shipped by 5 p.m. the same day. It will ship special orders as the merchandise becomes available. It offers free shipping on orders over $69. E-campus stocks $10 million in new and used book inventory.

eCampus.com is a subsidiary of aBookcompany LLC.

AllDorm.com recently launched to serve college students and their parents seeking to furnish dorm rooms. It says its 2,000 items were tested by college students and represent space-saving products. AllDorm.com was founded by four students from Santa Clara University four years ago. The company says its goal is to save students “the hassle of lugging all their possessions halfway across the country.”
