Bluefly.com sees a surge in summer apparel sales
July sales at Bluefly Inc.’s BlueFly.com rose 46% over July 2001 to $2.2 million, the company reported today. Sales in July last year were $1.5 million.
July sales activity continues a steady improvement in its overall financial performance. Last week Bluefly, which promotes "designer brands at outlet store prices," reported that second-quarter sales rose 28% over the year-ago period, to $6.8 million from $5.3 million, resulting in the seventh consecutive quarter that its operating loss narrowed. It reported a Q2 operating loss of $1.46 million compared to $4,.2 million a year ago.
