FTD.com’s revenue grows 9% in second quarter
Revenue at FTD.com grew 9.2% in the company’s second quarter to $53.2 million from $48.7 million a year ago, the company reported today. The increase was the result of both higher average orders and higher order volumes.
FTD.com includes both web and telephone orders. The Internet accounted for 81.1% of orders in this year’s Q2 vs. 76.9% a year ago.
Operating income grew to $2.5 million from $1.7 million. The company attributed the increase in margin to the greater number of web orders, which are lower cost than telephone orders.
FTD.com processed 886,000 orders in Q2 compared to 821,000 a year earlier. Average order value increased to $60.07 $59.33. Specialty gift orders grew 54.6% during the quarter vs. a year ago, accounting for 30% of total orders compared to 21% a year earlier.
