New Release of QAS QuickAddress Batch Solution Ensures Address Data Validity

-- Customers Benefit From Easy-to-Use, Low-Cost, Back-End Address Management Solution with Enhanced Delivery Point Validation --

BOSTON, Mass. - July 26, 2004 - QAS, an international leader in address management software, today announced the newest release of its QuickAddress Batch software - a component of its total address management solution. The new version, QuickAddress Batch Version 4, verifies, corrects, and standardizes address records with enhanced Delivery Point Validation (DPV) from the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Customers use QuickAddress Batch as part of QAS`s overall address data quality solution to clean existing address records in a database and maintain the validity of those records over time. The software compares each address against the USPS data file of valid addresses. For each address, QuickAddress Batch will verify and correct existing ZIP codes, append ZIP + 4 extensions, correct spelling and formatting errors, append delivery point barcodes, and standardize addresses according to USPS Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS*) specifications.

"Each year, companies waste billions of dollars as a result of low-quality customer address data. Used as part of a complete address management solution, QuickAddress Batch is a critical component to helping companies accomplish completely clean and accurate address databases," said Jonathan Hulford-Funnell, chief operating officer of QAS. "By tackling the problem of address verification from the front end with a rapid addressing tool like QuickAddress Pro, and data cleansing and maintenance from the back end with QuickAddress Batch, companies can achieve the highest degree of address data quality possible."

"Inaccurate address information was severely impacting our bottom line and the existing cleansing tools we had were expensive and difficult to use," said April Gauldin, Circulation Operations Director at The Denver Newspaper Agency. "If a paper we deliver has an inaccurate address label or is a duplicate, it doesn`t bring in revenue, even though it costs us money to print and attempt the delivery. QuickAddress Batch tells us immediately which addresses are incorrect or incomplete so we can reconcile the address data discrepancies and make the delivery process more efficient."

Brigade Quartermasters, a mail order supplier of adventure gear and apparel saved $27,000 on a single mailing using QuickAddress Batch. "The analysis we performed using QuickAddress Batch showed that more than 7% of the addresses for one of our recent catalog mailings were incorrect, improperly formatted, and were probably not acceptable delivery addresses," said CFO, Geoffrey B. WerBell. "Before working with QuickAddress Batch, we had no way of quantifying the deliverability information, because third-class mail with unverifiable addresses is simply destroyed by the post office, without notifying the sender unless they`re using the USPS ACS service." The total number of catalogs that in all likelihood were discarded by the post office was 23,259, at a value of more than $27,000, WerBell reports.

QuickAddress Batch Version 4 Key Features

*USPS Delivery Point Validation: By working down to the premise level, the DPV feature makes it easier to identify erroneous or non-existent addresses. DPV checks to ensure that house numbers are actually tied to existing addresses, rather than possible numbers within a range - greatly reducing the number of undeliverable-as-addressed returned mail and delivery bill-backs.

*CASS Certified: QuickAddress Batch is certified by the USPS as meeting all the requirements of the Coding Accuracy Support System. CASS is the process that ensures optimal deliverability through accurate 5-digit ZIP, ZIP+4 codes and Delivery Point Barcodes. *Delivery Point Barcodes: QuickAddress Batch supports Delivery Point Barcodes (DPBCs). A DPBC represents the 9-digit ZIP+4 code, the last 2 digits of the primary address or post office box (delivery point) and a single check digit. DPBCs may help the sender qualify for special bulk mail discounts. *Ease of Use: QuickAddress Batch is easy to use, even for marketing professionals and other non-technical audiences. An intuitive wizard-driven interface guides the user through the process of selecting the database to be cleaned and specifying the output database. *Reporting Function: QuickAddress Batch produces a detailed report to show how successful it has been in automatically fixing and standardizing the addresses in the database and which records require manual maintenance.

QuickAddress Batch is available as a wizard-driven standalone product or as a set of APIs. Through these APIs QuickAddress functionality can be integrated into most database applications. QuickAddress Batch is currently available for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP. It is also available on UNIX for non-U.S. data. Countries supported include USA, Great Britain, Australia, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Singapore.
