Weekly online spending shoots up 35% in latest comScore report
Online retail spending continues to experience a boom this year, according to the latest figures from comScore Networks Inc. ComScore reports that for the week ending Aug. 11, online retail spending reached $762 million, up 35% from the same week a year ago.
The largest categories reflected back-to-school spending: Computer hardware sales increased 15% vs. a year ago to $171 million; office supplies and stationery sales were up 111% to $122 million; and apparel and accessories sales grew 50% to $111 million.
Online travel spending was up 18% from a year ago, reaching $587 million.
