eBay tops Best Buy by 75% in visitors to computer/electronics sites


The eBay Electronics section of eBay.com led all retail sites for computers and consumer electronics for the week ended Jan. 11, with 2.9 million home-based visitors, topping second-ranked Best Buy by more than 1.2 million, according to the Nielsen/NetRatings NetView report. Best Buy had 1.7 million visitors.

SonyElectronics.com came in third place, with 1.1 million visitors, followed by CircuitCity.com, 905,000, and Sony.com, 623,000, Nielsen said.

For the same week, Netflix.com garnered the most online advertising impressions for retail goods and services, with 740.5 million, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance report.

Following are the top ten retailers in terms of number of advertising impressions and market share of impressions cited by AdRelevance:

-- Amazon.com, 311.9 million, 8.9%
-- Classmates Online, 237.2 million, 6.8%
-- JC Penney, 169.5 million, 4.8%
-- eBay, 112.8 million, 3.2%
-- Terra Lycos, 111.7 million, 3.2%
-- Overstock, 77.2 million, 2.2%
-- Barnes & Noble, 69.4 million, 2%
-- Date.com, 53.4 million, 1.5%
-- Major League Baseball, 53.2 million, 1.5%
