Bluefly’s August sales grow 9% from a year ago

August net sales at Bluefly.com Inc. rose 9% year-to-year, to $2.4 million from $2.2 million, the company reported today. August net sales were 9% higher than July’s.

The August sales increase, though less than July`s year-to-year increase of 46%, continues a steady improvement in Bluefly`s performance. Last month the company reported that second-quarter sales rose 28% over the year-earlier period, to $6.8 million from $5.3 million. The company has narrowed its operating loss consistently over the last seven quarters, resulting in a Q2 operating loss of $1.46 million from $4.2 million a year ago.

Bluefly sells designer apparel brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan/DKNY at marked-down prices.
