Q2 web sales jump 125% at World Wrestling Entertainment


World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. is finding a steady stream of online customers for its branded merchandise of shirts, action figures and DVDs.

For the second quarter, World Wrestling, No. 318 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, posted e-commerce sales of $3.6 million, an increase of 125% from web sales of $1.6 million in Q2 2005.

The company says the total number of orders processed increased by 99% while the average order value increased by $5 to $51.

For the first six months of the 2007 fiscal year, e-commerce revenue for World Wrestling rose to $6.9 million from $3.4 million in the prior year, an increase of 103%. “We are very pleased with our revenue growth in the current quarter,” says World Wrestling CEO Linda McMahon. “This reflects the continued expansion of our home video and digital media business along with increased attendance at our live events.”
