Digital River Launches Co-Branded Online Store for Toshiba`s Digital Products Division
Offers thousands of software titles for immediate download on Toshiba laptop computers
MINNEAPOLIS, August 19, 2004-- Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRIV ), a global leader in e-commerce outsourcing, today announced that it signed an online retail agreement with Toshiba`s Digital Products Division (DPD), a world leader in laptop computers and division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. Based on the agreement, Digital River recently built and launched a co-branded online store for Toshiba, enabling it to market and resell thousands of software titles from Digital River`s extensive downloadable software library. The new store is easily accessible via www.toshibadirect.com as well as through a desktop icon and in the Start menu of all new Toshiba laptop computers.
"Adding a well-known, industry-leading company like Toshiba to our client base further strengthens our reputation as a provider of world-class e-commerce solutions among major companies around the globe," said Dave Alampi, Digital River`s vice president of marketing. "Using our vast e-commerce experience and expertise, we worked with Toshiba to build an aggressive e-marketing plan. To help drive traffic and online sales on the site, we not only built a traditional point of entry through a dedicated URL, but also embedded two more points of entry into its new laptop computers. We also are implementing a variety of online marketing tools to proactively drive the sales on the store. We are excited about this new client and are eager to help it reach its online business goals."
For the first time, Toshiba is offering downloadable software in addition to boxed software. Consumers visiting the company`s software download store will find a variety of promotions, including cross-sells of complementary software and up-sells to newer or more advanced versions of software. They can purchase any of the thousands of software titles using a credit card, check, money order or wire transfer as well as immediately download the software.
"Toshiba was looking for a single company that could satisfy all of our requirements for launching and managing an online software store," said Taro Hiyama, vice president marketing, Toshiba`s DPD. "And because our customers value mobility and ease of use, Digital River offers them a single location where they can purchase the necessary software tools to achieve their computing goals. The convenience of the system we`ve built together allows our customers access to popular software titles anywhere they have an Internet connection, making the process easy and fast with limited downtime."
